Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking an experienced SPCC/ Civil 3D engineer to support Transmission Substations in the Carolinas West region. You will develop SPCC plans, perform field validations and prepare technical reports for internal review.

Expect approximately 10 years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow Extensions and Autodesk Vault. Hybrid work with 3 days in office, 15–25% travel. PE license in NC/SC preferred but not required for Engineer II/III level candidates.

Qualifications

• Advanced to expert level experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for Site Development design and drafting, with active use on recent projects (last 6-12 months).
• Experience using Hydraflow Extensions (Storm Sewers, Hydrographs, Express) in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience completing hydrology calculations using modeling software or other methods.
• Experience using Autodesk suite, specifically Vault for drawing library management.
• Familiarity with EPA SPCC requirements.
• Experience reviewing and updating SPCC plans.
• Utility experience, preferably Transmission and/or Distribution work.
• Approximately 10 years of discipline experience.
• PE license in NC and SC preferred but not required for Engineer II/III.

• Prepares technical reports, correspondence, calculations and sketches.
• Develops positive working relationships and communicates effectively.

Job description

Develops and updates SPCC plans for Transmission Substations in Carolinas West region. Uses AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and update SPCC and Site Development drawings. Conducts field visits to electrical substations to validate equipment, SPCC measures, and as-built conditions. Provides recurring status updates to supervision and sealing engineers. Depending on experience and PE licensure, reviews, signs, and seals SPCC plans for Transmission Substations.

Key responsibilities

• Develops and updates SPCC plans for Transmission Substations
• Uses AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and update SPCC and Site Development drawings
• Conducts site inspections and field visits to electrical substations to validate equipment, SPCC measures, and other as-built conditions
• Provides recurring status updates to supervision and sealing engineers
• Reviews, signs, and seals SPCC plans for Transmission Substations (depending on experience and PE licensure)
• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in area of expertise
• Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
• Conducts basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity
• Develops positive working relationships and demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
• Maintains accurate records and files
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
• Reviews work by external consultants to ensure compliance with internal standards and specifications

Requirements - education & experience

• Advanced to expert level experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for Site Development design and drafting, with active use on recent projects (last 6-12 months)
• Experience using Hydraflow Extensions (Storm Sewers, Hydrographs, Express) in AutoCAD Civil 3D

• Experience using Autodesk suite of tools, specifically Autodesk Vault for drawing library management
• Familiarity with EPA SPCC requirements
• Experience reviewing and updating SPCC plans
• Utility experience, preferably Transmission and/or Distribution work
• Approximately 10 years of discipline experience
• PE license in NC and SC (preferred but not required for Engineer II or III level candidates)

Full time, hybrid position with 3 days per week in office. Travel required 15-25% of time, generally day trips within 2-3 hours. Some field work with personal vehicle use and mileage reimbursement.
