Job summary

Moran Environmental Recovery seeks a Health and Safety Coordinator in Norfolk, VA to drive safety and health management across the organization by developing and reinforcing best practice operating procedures. This role supports all business units under the Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager.

Reporting to the Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager, you will coordinate site-specific training, perform JHAs, maintain manuals and SOPs, and act as the primary safety contact for regional clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety science or related discipline with 5+ years of large project experience in construction safety.
• US OSHA standards knowledge (1910/1915/1926) and regulatory familiarity.
• Strong communication and ability to interact with clients and management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and reinforce best-practice safety procedures across the organization.
• Coordinate, conduct, and track site-specific safety training for regulatory compliance.
• Communicate findings and train teams on safety needs and trends.
• Collaborate with safety, compliance, and operations to tailor on-the-job training.
• Implement New Hire Orientation with HR and Safety teams.
• Maintain the Corporate Health and Safety Manual and SOPs.
• Create site-specific Health and Safety Plans per client requirements.
• Perform Job Hazard Analyses and select appropriate PPE.
• Review worksheets and JHAs to identify gaps and corrective actions.
• Provide safety coverage for projects and emergency responses.
• Manage Safety Services communications with clients.
• Conduct site safety inspections and audits.
• Share best practices with supervisors and contractors to minimize risk.
• Serve as safety contact to regional clients and address project questions.
• Investigate injuries and identify root causes.
• Inspect safety equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
• Stay current on safety regulations to ensure MER compliance.
