Job summary

JLM Strategic Talent Partners is seeking a Safety Specialist for civil construction projects in the United States. The ideal candidate has proven safety experience in engineering and/or construction, thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting, and is highly organized and communicative.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of safety experience in engineering and/or civil construction.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and reliable in completing assignments on time.

Responsibilities

• Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to meet safety goals.
• Conduct and document daily site inspections and enforce project safety plan and OSHA standards.
• Monitor safety performance of subcontractor personnel and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Prepare written safety reports and assign necessary corrective actions with deadlines.
• Have authority to STOP work to remedy serious safety deficiencies.
• Report incidents and unsafe conditions to the team.
• Participate in pre-construction and pre-activity meetings.
• Work weekends or nights as needed.
• Provide site-specific safety orientation for all subcontractor employees.
• Identify training needs and provide safety training as needed.
• Monitor first aid supplies, PPE, and fire extinguishers; ensure maintenance.
• Ensure safety signage and workplace notifications are posted and maintained.
• Monitor safety recalls for construction products or equipment.
• Participate in all safety and staff meetings.
• Perform drug testing as required.
• Maintain incident reports and training records in the safety system.
• Carry out other tasks assigned by the Project Safety Manager or Regional Safety Manager.
