The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking Safety Inspectors to uphold safety standards across county construction and maintenance projects. Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in a relevant field, with at least two years of safety experience, a valid Texas driver’s license, and OSHA 30-hour certification.

Qualifikationen

• Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Minimum two years of construction safety or general safety experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License (Class C).
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
• Professional certification within 12 months (CHST, OHST, ASP-CSHO, BCSP).

Aufgaben

• Conduct routine, random, and scheduled inspections of County construction projects, maintenance activities, and facilities to identify hazards and verify compliance with safety requirements.
• Use the Universal Site Inspection Checklist and procedures to evaluate worksite conditions.
• Verify basic compliance with safety requirements, OSHA standards, contractual obligations, and safe work practices.
• Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and safety violations during field observations.
• Review safety documentation and records per established procedures.
• Report serious hazards or imminent danger to safety personnel or project managers.
• Communicate deficiencies and corrective actions to contractors and County personnel.
• Document non-compliant conditions and verify completion of corrective actions.
• Assist with follow-up inspections and escalate unresolved safety conditions.
• Coordinate inspection findings with Project Managers, contractors, and safety staff.
• Support safety meetings, training, and program activities; assist with regulatory research.
• Perform other safety-related duties as needed.
