Job summary

Harris County is seeking an Inspector to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with plans and standards, and document findings. The role involves on-site inspection, record-keeping, and coordinating with contractors to ensure timely, quality delivery across maintenance and capital projects.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of construction oversight experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a relevant Bachelor’s degree; a valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Minimum of two years of verifiable experience in construction oversight.
• Ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications and plans; knowledge of construction standards; strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain familiarity with the work and specifications governing the work.
• Provide on-site inspections to verify quality and quantity per plans.
• Record work in a computer-based reporting system and prepare reports.
• Coordinate with contractors and Harris County personnel on project issues and scheduling.
• Attend project meetings and assist project team as needed.
• Work under general supervision to inspect buildings, infrastructure, and other facilities.
