RINA North America in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Construction Scheduler to manage review of contractor schedules, develop and maintain CPM schedules in Primavera P6, and contribute to program reporting for the Transforming Rail in Virginia project with CSX Transportation. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management or related field.
  • 5+ years of scheduling and time impact analysis experience.
  • Infrastructure experience; rail or transit preferred.
  • Experience with document control and PMIS systems.
  • Extensive CPM scheduling experience and CPM schedule reviews.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and advanced schedule-analysis tools.
  • Experience on state and federally funded projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare written technical reports summarizing findings.
  • Coordinate with project staff to ensure accuracy of schedule updates.
  • Develop and maintain resource- and cost-loaded CPM schedules in Primavera P6.

  • Review and analyze contractor time-extension requests.
  • Perform “what-if” schedule and budget scenarios.
  • Support change management personnel in resolving changes and claims.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Construction Scheduler to join its project office in Alexandria, Vawithin theNorth America Infrastructure & MobilityDivision.

Mission


The Construction Scheduler willjoin our team working with CSX Transportation on the Transforming Rail in Virginia (TRV) Program. This Program is making generational investments delivering on its vision to provide high-performance passenger and commuter rail service that connects our communities and increases economic growth.

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority’s (VPRA’s) implementation of these projects will change how Virginians travel, removing traffic from roads and highways, and increasing commuting options in all corners of the state while improving performance and reliability. VPRA’s partnerships, capital projects, and infrastructure enhancement programs will grow the Commonwealth’s rail network by adding additional passenger and commuter services by doubling the state-supported Amtrak service between Washington, DC and Richmond.

The Scheduler will be primarily responsible for the review of contractor schedules and for creating, monitoring and updating as-built project schedules.

Key Accountabilities
  • Review designer and contractor schedules submittals for conformance to contract and client requirements and industry standard best practices
    • Prepare written technical reports summarizing findings
    • Provide quality review of such reports prepared by others
  • Coordinate with project staff to ensure accuracy of schedule updates and objective performance measurement.
  • Develop and maintain resource and cost-loaded critical path method schedules in Primavera P6 for both projects and master-program level schedules
  • Develop program-level reporting templates and contribute to project and program reporting, providing accurate and timely updates of data.
    • Develop ways to innovate the reporting process
  • Review and provide analysis of contractor’s request for time extension
  • Perform “what-if” schedule and budget scenarios
  • Support change management personnel in resolving outstanding changes + claims
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or equivalent fields of study
  • 5+ years of experience in scheduling and time impact analysis
  • Infrastructure industry experience required. Rail or Transit experience preferred.
  • Experience with document control and PMIS systems
  • Extensive experience utilizing critical path method (CPM) scheduling and conducting technical review of CPM schedules
  • Advanced knowledge of project scheduling softwares, including Primavera P6 software experience and advanced proficiency utilizing a schedule analysis tool
  • Experience working on state and federally funded projects
  • Advanced proficiency Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey changes, updates and urgencies to multiple parties (client, contractors, colleagues, management) daily.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required; position requires occasional use of fleet vehicle, personal vehicle, and/or rental vehicle for business-related travel.
