Job summary

Westphal & Co., Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist to oversee the Safety and Health Program across multiple sites including Madison, Milwaukee, and Dubuque.

You will implement policies, lead training, and ensure OSHA compliance while partnering with the Safety Director. The role requires a minimum of two years as a Safety Representative on construction projects, a relevant degree, OSHA 10/30, BCSP certification, and strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Safety Representative on construction projects.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Occupational Environmental Safety & Health or Construction.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Certification; BCSP designation or certification.
• Excellent written communication and professional telephone etiquette.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to make independent decisions and build relationships with field personnel, GC personnel, clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct new hire safety training orientations.
• Maintain and file safety documentation including toolbox talks and trainings.
• Organize, maintain, and distribute PPE and safety equipment.
• Assist with accident investigations, inspections, and reporting.
• Develop, write, and maintain project-specific safety plans.
• Conduct job site safety visits and produce site safety reports.
• Maintain OSHA-required safety training documentation.
• Travel to job sites as required and support safety program improvements.
