** Position Summary**

We are seeking a proactive and field-focused Safety Officer to lead and support safety initiatives across active construction projects.
This role is responsible for ensuring safety expectations are clearly communicated, consistently enforced, and integrated into daily operations. The Safety Officer works closely with superintendents, foremen, and field crews to promote a strong safety culture and maintain compliance with OSHA and company standards.

** Key Responsibilities**
** Safety Oversight & Compliance**
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections and safety audits.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Reinforce safe work practices through field presence and coaching.
** Safety Culture & Leadership**
  • Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Partner with field leadership to drive accountability and consistent safety performance.
  • Lead by example and build trust with crews and supervisors.
** Training & Communication**
  • Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training sessions.
  • Communicate safety updates, requirements, and lessons learned.
  • Assist with developing and improving safety procedures and programs.
** Incident Management**
  • Respond to and document incidents, injuries, and near misses.
  • Conduct investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate reporting and follow-up actions with leadership and HR.
  • Track safety trends and implement preventative strategies.
** Documentation & Reporting**
  • Maintain accurate safety records and compliance documentation.
  • Support OSHA reporting requirements.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
** Operational Support**
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Foremen to identify risks before work begins.
  • Integrate safety planning into daily construction activities.
  • Help remove safety-related obstacles while maintaining production goals.
** Qualifications**
  • 3+ years of experience in construction safety or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Experience working on active construction projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify hazards and proactively address safety concerns.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between jobsites.
** Preferred Qualifications**
  • ** CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) Certification**
  • OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 Certification.
  • First Aid / CPR Certification.
  • Experience in:
  • * Civil construction
    • Earthwork
    • Underground utilities
    • Heavy equipment environments
  • Incident investigation and reporting experience.
