Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Site Safety Manager to support a large mechanical subcontractor on a major commercial construction project in Washington, DC. This role focuses on field oversight, coordinating safety activities and ensuring compliance with OSHA rules.

You will work with the Division Safety Manager and safety coordinators, inspect sites, document issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent incidents.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a safety manager in a construction environment.
  • MEP/Mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial or mission-critical environments.
  • Candidate must pass BC & DT checks and OSHA-based requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Tours and inspects job sites to ensure OSHA compliance and safety policy adherence.
  • Reports concerns to safety management and enforces safety standards.
  • Documents inspections, cites hazards and recommends corrections.
  • Ensures corrective actions are implemented within set timelines.
  • Maintains site safety documentation including accident reports and training logs.
  • Develops loss control strategies and provides emergency response when needed.
  • Participates in accident investigations and reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Assists in updating training materials and conducts employee training.
  • Acts as lead safety role when required.

Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Site Safety Manager to support one of our largest mechanical subcontractors on a large commercial construction project in Washington, DC. This position will be assisting the Division Safety Manager and other safety coordinators to ensure the team meets all safety requirements. The majority of this work will be in the field, managing and coordinating all division safety activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Tours and inspects small, mid-size or large, complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Reports concerns to safety management. Ensures Enforcement of OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
  • Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.
  • Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs.
  • Develops current and future loss control strategies and implements corrective actions to prevent similar incidents. – Provides emergency response to employees as needed.
  • Participates in and documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Contributes to updating training materials and manages employee training as necessary.
  • Acting as a lead, guides less-experience safety roles as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of experience working as a safety manager in a construction environment
  • MEP/Mechanical experience
  • Experience within commercial or mission critical environments
  • Must be able to successfully pass a BC & DT
  • Excellent working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • CHST or other related safety certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences is required OR Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification
