Join to apply for the Construction Safety Manager role at Sovereign Consulting Inc.

At Sovereign, one of our guiding principles on every project and in every office is, “Behavior Based Safety Every Minute of Every Day.” We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support and audit our construction safety programs and reinforce our commitment to safety. The Safety Specialist will collaborate with Project Managers, employees, subcontractors, and the Director of Corporate Health and Safety to ensure the successful implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) on each project. Responsibilities include applying client safety expectations, Sovereign's Safety Manual, Safe Work Procedures, OSHA, and other relevant laws, verifying work execution, problem-solving, assisting with corrective measures, and providing safety resources.

Position Overview

Sovereign’s construction division specializes in water/wastewater projects across the Northeast. With experienced staff and extensive resources, our New Jersey office is experiencing growth.

Office Location

Robbinsville, NJ; Mine Hill, NJ; Cherry Hill, NJ

Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, update, and communicate the SSSP to all stakeholders, including subcontractors.
  • Support and promote a safety culture among field staff.
  • Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and work plans.
  • Prioritize and problem-solve with field operations based on safety trends and upcoming work.
  • Encourage and support staff in executing the SSSP.
  • Maintain project safety files in compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Assist with first aid, physical examinations, incident investigations, hazard inspections, and review work plans with project managers.
  • Provide safety training on policies, procedures, OSHA/MSHA standards, and client requirements.
Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience supporting construction safety operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, construction, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards, OSHA requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to access all points of a construction site.
Licenses/Certifications
  • OSHA 30
  • OSHA 10
  • OSHA 510 and/or 500 (a plus)
  • EM 385-1-1 (40-hour training)
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space
