Job summary

Gilbane Building seeks a Safety Professional to supervise safety on a single large project with direct reports. You will uphold the Safety Plan, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with OSHA and client requirements.

You will lead inspections, trainings, and incident investigations, while mentoring staff and coordinating with subcontractors to maintain a safe, productive work site. This role emphasizes leadership, communication and rigorous safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred.
• 4–5 years of construction safety management experience.
• BCSP credential required or equivalent.
• Certified instructor by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and health principles.

Responsibilities

• Supports all safety efforts on the project and promotes the Gilbane Cares safety culture
• Ensures contractor activities are preplanned for safety through scope review, preconstruction meetings, JHA review, STAs, etc.
• Ensures contractors meet Gilbane safety submittal requirements
• Ensures contractor compliance with Gilbane safety plan & expectations
• Makes recommendations concerning situations hazardous to employee safety or health
• Performs SafetyNet inspections and analyzes observations
• Provides and analyzes SafetyNet trending reports with project team
• Coaches project team in hazard identification and correction
• Investigates all accidents/near misses and completes required paperwork
• Provides safety training to project teams on Gilbane, client, and OSHA requirements
• Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks
• Manages workload and performance of direct reports
• Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment
• Aids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports
• Collaborates with business development to align safety with sales strategies
