Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated in the United States seeks a Safety Specialist to support the Safety and Health Management System at a designated location. You will help ensure compliance with regulations and foster a safe work environment.

Reporting to safety leadership, you will conduct inspections, assist in program implementation, and train teams on hazards, risk controls, and incident prevention across our construction sites.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable state and federal safety and health regulations.
• Demonstrate good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, follow through and time management skills.
• Ability to work in high production environment and respond swiftly.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Motivated self-starter.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members, owner representatives, regulators, clinics, and testing facilities to maintain relationships.
• Promote safety program engagement and local incident prevention efforts.
• Assist in implementing safety programs to meet strategic goals.
• Perform noise and dust sampling and industrial hygiene tests and coach teams on hazards.
• Inspect and audit to reduce incidents and protect employee health.
• Prepare and conduct safety meetings and training programs.
• Engage in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance.
• Develop and review job hazard analyses to identify hazards and controls.
• Investigate near misses, incidents and claims to protect company interests.
• Perform periodic checks to ensure corrective actions are documented.
