Job summary

MEPX is seeking a Director of Safety & Health to lead the company’s safety strategy across construction operations. This role will oversee safety programs, OSHA compliance, jobsite safety, incident prevention, employee training, regulatory reporting, and safety performance.

The Director will partner with executives, project managers, superintendents, foremen, employees, and subcontractors to promote safe and compliant operations. Travel to active project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive construction safety experience with leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and safety practices.
• Experience leading safety programs, policies, training, and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Provide safety leadership across active construction projects and facilities.
• Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Support JHAs, pre-task planning, site-specific safety plans, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, project, and company safety requirements.
• Lead investigations involving injuries, near misses, property damage, and other incidents.
• Identify root causes and track corrective actions through completion.
• Develop safety training, new-hire orientations, and onboarding.
• Coach field leaders and employees on hazard recognition and accountability.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, and regulatory reports.
• Monitor safety metrics, identify trends, and report performance to leadership.
• Support workers’ compensation, insurance, prequalification, and client reporting needs.
• Travel to active project sites as required.
