Job summary

Safety Management Group, LLC (SMG) is seeking a Local Safety Director for Lebanon, Indiana to lead HSE programs across large-scale construction projects. You will conduct field audits, enforce safety policies, review contractor safety plans, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with project teams.

The role requires 15+ years of construction safety experience, leadership in major projects, and a safety-related degree.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience leading large-scale construction projects.
• Degree in Safety or Construction is required.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course or BCSP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer project HSE programs to ensure compliance with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and project standards.
• Conduct field audits, safety observations, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Review and approve contractor safety personnel, safety plans, and project-specific HSE procedures.
• Partner with project management, contractors, and site leadership to integrate safety requirements into daily operations.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide coaching, training, and guidance to strengthen safety culture and compliance.
• Facilitate safety meetings, track safety trends and corrective actions, and communicate project safety performance to key stakeholders.
• Provide technical expertise on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices within construction and general industry environments.
• Manage injury and incident reporting, case management, and return-to-work processes as needed.
• Promote continuous improvement through safety initiatives, training programs, and workforce engagement efforts.
