Job summary

Safety Management Group (SMG) seeks a Local Safety Director in Lebanon, Indiana, to lead site safety programs on large-scale construction endeavors. The role focuses on enforcing OSHA standards, conducting risk assessments, and guiding contractors toward safer daily operations.

The position requires 15+ years in construction safety and a degree in Safety or Construction, with OSHA 30-Hour and BCSP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience leading large-scale construction projects.
• Degree in Safety or Construction is required.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course is preferred; BCSP cert is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer project HSE programs to ensure compliance with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and project standards.
• Conduct field audits, safety observations, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Review and approve contractor safety personnel, safety plans, and project-specific HSE procedures.
• Partner with project management, contractors, and site leadership to integrate safety requirements into daily operations.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor contractor performance and provide coaching, training, and guidance to strengthen safety culture and compliance.
• Facilitate safety meetings, track safety trends and corrective actions, and communicate project safety performance to key stakeholders.
• Provide technical expertise on OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices within construction and general industry environments.
• Manage injury and incident reporting, case management, and return-to-work processes as needed.
• Promote continuous improvement through safety initiatives, training programs, and workforce engagement efforts.
