Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Project Safety Assistant for the Northern CA/Sacramento area to support safety program enforcement, training, and compliance on construction projects. The role focuses on hazard control, site inspections, and recordkeeping.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field with at least 1 year of construction safety experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field; 1 year safety experience
• Basic knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques
• Familiar with Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
• Able to identify safety exposures and propose corrective actions
• Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with enforcement of EH&S policies and training on safe practices.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with policies and regulations.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings and worker orientation.
• Maintain safety records and incident metrics (PTPs, JHAs, toolbox talks, OSHA logs).
• Conduct site safety audits and issue corrective actions to subcontractors.
• Assist with administration of drug screening program and related procedures.
