HazTek Safety Management is seeking a Safety Consultant/Auditor to operate out of and support clients primarily in the South Boston area. The role emphasizes ensuring safety best practices, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture on construction sites.

The consultant will travel to projects across the Greater Boston/Eastern Massachusetts area, review ongoing activities, and provide guidance to project supervisors to maintain compliance and safety performance.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and interpretations.
  • Familiarity with commercial, residential, and civil construction practices.
  • Ability to use measurement devices to verify compliance.
  • Ability to describe observations succinctly via mobile entry.
  • Willingness to travel within Greater Boston and Eastern MA.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to construction projects in the Greater Boston/Eastern Massachusetts area.
  • Review current construction activity and provide safety guidance to project supervisors.
  • Communicate observations to clients’ employees and supervisors.
  • Document compliant and non-compliant observations on a mobile device.
  • Organize work assignments within a 40–50 hour work week, including some shift work and travel.

Job description

HazTek is looking for a Safety Consultantant/Auditor to operate out of and support clients primarily in the South Boston area.

The Safety Consultant plays a key role in supporting client and project needs by ensuring safety best practices are implemented, compliance requirements are met, and a strong culture of safety is maintained.

Role And Responsibilities

Consultant will travel to construction projects in the Greater Boston/Eastern Massachusetts area, review current construction activity, and provide guidance to project supervisor.

Consultants Possess The Following Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926, 1904, and applicable sections of 1910), associated letters of interpretation, enforcement directives, and memos)
  • Familiarity with commercial, residential, and/or civil construction practices and procedures
  • Use of measurement devices to quantitatively verify compliance or non-compliance with regulations
  • Review a variety of health and safety programs, and identify programs that lack compliance with applicable regulations
  • Communicate effectively with clients’ employees and supervisors, especially in regards to unsafe acts observed while touring projects
  • Succinctly describe compliant and non-compliant observations via entry on a mobile device
  • Self-organize all scheduled and unscheduled work assignments, with travel, into a 40- to 50-hour work week
  • Efficiently complete assignments to generate acceptable hours of client-billable work; typically, 8 hours per day
  • Occasionally (10%) perform work during second or third shifts
  • Occasionally (10%) travel outside a 100-mile radius or stay overnight away from home
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Consultants must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to work in the United States

Consultants must be physically capable of navigating active construction sites

Some Construction Experience

Preferred Skills

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety (or a related field) from an accredited program, or
  • BCSP credential with three to five years of experience
  • Ability to conduct training sessions per applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA 10/30, MEWP, PIT, or fall protection)
  • Fluency in Spanish
