Job description

Entry‑Level to Senior Professionals Welcome

At Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. (R/M), we exist to empower people, improve communities, and thrive together. As a Construction Review Technician (CRT), you’ll play a hands‑on role in delivering the infrastructure that makes communities safer, stronger, and more resilient—while growing your career in a 100% employee‑owned firm that invests in its people.

This role is intentionally designed for a wide range of experience levels—from individuals starting a hands‑on construction career to seasoned professionals ready to lead, mentor, and shape project success.

Why Join R/M

At R/M, your work matters and your voice counts. As employee‑owners, we take pride in being proactive, elevating others, and owning our work—from the office to the field to the final outcome. You’ll be part of a collaborative Construction Services Team that values quality, accountability, and long‑term relationships.

What Makes This Role Exciting

As a CRT, you’ll work directly in the field on real‑world municipal infrastructure projects—sewer, water, paving, and more—seeing your efforts turn into tangible improvements for the communities you serve.

  • Early‑career professionals receive paid training, mentorship, and hands‑on experience
  • Experienced professionals contribute critical field expertise, coordination, and quality assurance
  • Senior‑level technicians serve as trusted field leaders, mentors, and problem‑solvers

Your responsibilities and influence grow with your experience — no two days are the same.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities scale with experience and may include:

  • Reviewing construction of municipal infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards
  • Verifying line, grade, materials, quantities, and workmanship using field measurements and tools
  • Preparing accurate daily reports, documentation, and record drawings using electronic reporting software
  • Communicating effectively with contractors, engineers, project managers, and municipal officials
  • Serving as a professional point of contact for public inquiries
  • Identifying construction issues and proactively recommending or escalating solutions
  • Coordinating on‑site activities to support safety, efficiency, and quality
For experienced candidates

Responsibilities may also include:

  • Acting as on‑site coordinator or lead for construction projects
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced field staff
  • Providing constructability insight and field leadership to project teams
Who This Role Is For

We are intentionally open to a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. You may be a great fit if you bring:

  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in quality work
  • Comfort working outdoors in active construction environments
  • Professional communication skills with contractors, project teams, and the public
  • Basic to advanced math skills and ability to interpret construction drawings
  • Flexibility to work across multiple project sites
  • A commitment to learning, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance

Experience with construction, inspection, surveying, municipal infrastructure, or CAD is a plus—but not required. Candidates with significant experience (10+ years) may take on advanced leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

What You’ll Gain
  • Paid Training & Mentorship – Structured onboarding and continuous learning at every career stage
  • Employee Ownership – Participate in our ESOP and share in the firm’s success
  • Career Growth – Clear paths within construction services, project management, and engineering support
  • Meaningful Impact – Work that improves safety, reliability, and quality of life in local communities
  • Collaborative Culture – A team that believes in elevating others and doing what we say we’ll do
