Job summary

Mortenson in Itasca, IL seeks an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality system on medium to large projects, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are taken and quality plans are implemented from start to final acceptance.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in construction or related field, 3+ years in quality leadership, proficiency in Excel and Primavera Unifier, and a proven track record of mentoring engineers and coordinating with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Arch Eng, or Construction Mgmt.
• Min 3 years in design/engineering/construction leading quality systems.
• Strong attention to detail across multiple tasks.
• Basic knowledge of construction law and business practices.
• Proficient in Excel and Primavera Unifier.
• Experience with quality systems (e.g., Baldridge, ISO 9000, Lean).
• Training in basic project management and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mortenson’s quality system on medium to large projects
• Implement Quality Management Plan from start to final acceptance
• Establish and lead quality control initiatives and corrective actions
• Review project plans for quality requirements
• Manage Quality Events, punch list, and Non-Conformance Notices
• Resolve issues with/without guidance from Project Manager or Superintendent
• Oversee third-party design and testing agencies
• Manage subcontracts and suppliers, including quality program reviews
• Coach and mentor Field and Project Engineers, manage career development
