Job summary

Thalle Construction Company Co., Inc. in North Texas seeks an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the quality program on a major heavy civil project.

The role reports to the Senior Project Manager and coordinates all aspects of the Quality Control System implemented on the project. The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree or construction management qualification, 15 years of construction experience, proven QC leadership, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• A graduate engineer, or a graduate of construction management, with a preferred minimum of 15 years of construction experience on projects of similar scope and magnitude.
• Experience leading and managing a quality control staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Quality Control Systems Management and Oversight on a large-scale project.
• Onsite at all times during construction and employed by the prime contractor.
• Responsible for overall management of the Construction Quality Control Program with authority to act in all quality control matters for the contractor.
• Manage a robust quality control staff consisting of more than 10 teammates and resources provided by subcontracted testing firms.
• Maintain all documents (letters, material submittals, shop drawing submittals, schedules, project documentation) and records at the site, except as otherwise acceptable to the Contracting Officer.
• Review and approve all construction submittals.
• Conduct the minimum of three phases (Preparatory, Initial and Follow up) of control for each definable feature of the construction work.
• Overall responsibility and oversight for quality aspects of the project, including management of all quality control personnel and reporting as required.
• This project will utilize an on-site batch plant, specialized transport, placing equipment, and an onsite material testing lab.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to move freely about a construction site that at times present a demanding terrain including, but not limited to, climbing of ladders and stair towers, uneven and often wet surfaces, and slopes.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
