Job summary

SOCOTEC in Lacey, WA is seeking a Material Tester to review drawings, communicate with field crews, perform in-field material testing, and document findings for compliance with project specifications. The role involves inspecting materials, maintaining quality records, and coordinating with AAR for observations and sampling.

No prior construction experience is required, and certifications such as ACI or WAQTC are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• No prior experience in the construction industry required.
• Preferred certifications: ACI, Nuclear Gauge, WAB0, WAQTC.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Energetic, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload.

Responsibilities

• Review approved construction drawings and specifications.
• Communicate findings with contractor workers, foremen, superintendents, project managers, building inspectors and report findings.
• Write concise inspection reports using contract documents, approved drawings, and applicable codes.
• Coordinate with AAR office to report inspection observations, scheduling and sample pickup coordination.
• Inspect and verify materials for compliance to the plans and specifications.
• Accurately complete quality records relating to material testing.
• Review contract documents and ensure contractors comply with specifications.
• Aim to obtain additional certifications to perform in-field material testing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Information

Salary Range

$22-34/hour, depending on qualifications
