Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a field-focused inspector in the United States to perform material testing and verify compliance with project drawings and specifications. The role requires in-field sampling, reporting, and coordination with multiple stakeholders on construction sites.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, active work authorization in the U.S., and relevant testing certifications. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are also required.

Responsibilities

• Material Testing (Certifications Required).
• Review approved construction drawings and specifications.
• Communicate with contractor workers, foremen, superintendents, project managers, building inspectors and report findings.
• Write concise inspection reports referencing contract docs, drawings, and codes.
• Coordinate with AAR office for observations, scheduling and sample pickup.
• Inspect and verify materials for compliance with plans and specs.
• Complete quality records relating to material testing.
• Review contract documents and ensure contractor compliance with specs.
• Possess ability to obtain additional in-field testing certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Description

• Material Testing (Certifications Required)
• Review approved construction drawings and specifications
• Communicate with contractor workers, foremen, superintendents, project managers, building inspectors and report findings
• Write concise inspection reports using specific language pertaining to contract documents, approved drawings, and any applicable code
• Communicate with AAR office to report inspection observations, scheduling and sample pick up coordination
• Inspection and verification of materials for compliance to the plans and specifications
• Accurately complete quality records relating to material testing
• Review of contract documents
• Ensure that contractors comply with specifications
• The ability to obtain additional certifications to perform in-field material testing
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Authorization to work in the United States
• No previous experience in the construction industry is required
• Required Certifications:
• ACI, Nuclear Gauge, WAQTC
• Any other certifications a plus (WDOT, WABO, ICC)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record
• Energetic, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload

Salary Range

$22-34/hour, depending on qualifications (potentially hire for inspectors with more certifications)
