Job description

Construction QA/QC Engineer - Battery Manufacturing

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Construction QA/QC Engineer to lead and oversee the quality aspects of retrofitting an existing factory into a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing plant for a high-profile client. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of excellent project delivery, particularly in quality assurance, quality control, and safety management within the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support internal teams and stakeholders, overseeing construction efforts and progress reporting.
  2. Manage contracts and budgets, ensuring alignment with cost budgets.
  3. Develop and coordinate detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  4. Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations through regular site inspections and audits.
  5. Identify and address quality, safety, health, and environment issues.
  6. Proactively manage construction risks and coordinate GC actions on risk.
  7. Review drawings for constructability and provide construction input during early project phases.
  8. Create and coordinate monthly, daily, and event reporting for the construction team.
  9. Issue meeting minutes and documentation for site progress and other required meetings.
  10. Coordinate and support the RFI and submittal process, ensuring alignment with cost budgets.
  11. Assist the client PM in coordinating construction efforts to support safety, QA/QC, and labor relations programs.
  12. Establish success criteria for the project, focusing on time, cost, technical, and quality performance.
  13. Support contractor and purchasing strategy development and execution.
  14. Act as project schedule owner or support the scheduler, tracking critical actions and milestones.
  15. Conduct meetings with key stakeholders to track and report on progress.
  16. Review as-built documents and other closeout items with project teams.
  17. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including subcontractors and vendors.
  18. Maintain clear communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  19. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, permits, and compliance records.
  20. Ensure integration of battery systems with existing factory infrastructure.
  21. Monitor and report on health and safety aspects of battery retrofit activities, ensuring alignment with project standards and regulations.
  22. SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience, including experience with battery retrofit projects.
  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 30, OSHA 500/510, BCSP Qualified Credentials (OHST, ASP, CSP, or CHST), and CPR.
  • Proven experience in implementing and monitoring project QA/QC plans or contractor site safety plans.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure projects are managed to the right quality standards, completed efficiently, and on time.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain working relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
  • Fluency in Korean is advantageous.
