Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a seasoned Construction (QA) Inspector to oversee government projects in Louisville and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include surveillance reporting, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and providing technical guidance to enforce standards. The role requires extensive experience in construction inspection, knowledge of relevant codes, and proficiency with RMS.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED minimum; Associate or Bachelor's in construction preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction contract administration and inspection on large DoD/USACE projects.
  • Experience with vertical construction projects; hospital construction preferred.
  • Experience with relevant construction/building codes.
  • Specialized codes: NFPA 101, NFPA 70, IPC, NFPA 13/72, ASHRAE/NEBB, commissioning.
  • Experience with RMS 3.0.
  • Three-phase inspection process experience.
  • OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers surveillance reports on construction phases to government personnel for compliance with plans and specs.
  • Provides technical expertise to ensure project compliance with standards and design instructions.
  • Performs inspections and completes daily site reports including progress, safety, and manpower.
  • Observes construction phases for schedule compliance; identifies problems and recommends contract changes.
  • Prepares engineering plans or reports and reviews contractor schedules.
  • Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
  • Reviews and analyzes contractor plans and submittals for approvals and safety/quality programs.
  • Monitors progress of construction activities and notifies project team of delays.
  • Utilizes Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENT-

Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Delivers surveillance reports on all phases of construction for compliance with plans and specifications in respect to workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods to government personnel.
  • Provides technical expertise to client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
  • Performs inspections and completes daily site reports. Include comments and monitoring of progress, work activities, safety issues and subcontractor manpower in the reports.
  • Observes and investigates construction phases for compliance with schedules, specifications, and shop drawings. Identifies problems, recommends changes, and assesses the need for contract modifications.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Reviews contractor schedules.
  • Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
  • Reviews and analyzes contractor plans and technical submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings.
  • Monitors scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advises the project team of potential delay.
  • Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED minimum; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related Construction related degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience on construction contract administration and inspection projects on large complex multimillion dollar federal projects, Department of Defense (DoD) or USACE preferred
  • Experience with vertical construction projects. Hospital construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with relevant construction / building codes is needed.
  • The following specialized skills or codes which may be required:
    • Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
    • National National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
    • Plumbing (IPC)
    • Fire Protection Systems (NFPA 13 & 72)
    • HVAC/TAB (ASHRAE/AABC/NEBB)
    • Building Commissioning
    • Communications & Security (IT, Nurse Call/Code Blue, Imaging & IDS/PACS)
    • Transport/Equipment (Patient Lifts, Elevators, Transport Systems, Pneumatic Tube, Food Service, Sterilizers, Mortuary, & Laboratory)
    • Welding Inspection
    • Painting and Metalizing Inspection
    • Environmental HAZWOPER, site sampling
  • Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
  • Experience with three-phase inspection process
  • Experience with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, preferred
