Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction (QA) Inspector in Louisville, KY to conduct field inspections, verify workmanship, materials, and construction methods, and prepare surveillance reports for government personnel.

The role requires a minimum High School Diploma/GED, 10 years of federal project experience (DoD/USACE preferred), and knowledge of relevant codes. U.S. citizenship and successful background/drug screening are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of construction inspection/contract administration on large projects.
  • DoD/USACE federal project experience preferred.
  • Vertical construction experience; hospital projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of codes: NFPA, NEC, IPC, ASHRAE.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver surveillance reports on construction phases to government personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
  • Perform inspections and daily site reports including progress and safety.
  • Review contractor schedules and submittals for approval.
  • Monitor progress and advise on potential delays.

Job description

  • Reviews contractor schedules.
Construction (QA) Inspector-Louisville, KY

Work Location: Louisville, KY ***Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview

REQUIREMENT-

Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Delivers surveillance reports on all phases of construction for compliance with plans and specifications in respect to workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods to government personnel.
  • Provides technical expertise to client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
  • Performs inspections and completes daily site reports. Include comments and monitoring of progress, work activities, safety issues and subcontractor manpower in the reports.
  • Observes and investigates construction phases for compliance with schedules, specifications, and shop drawings. Identifies problems, recommends changes, and assesses the need for contract modifications.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Reviews contractor schedules.
  • Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
  • Reviews and analyzes contractor plans and technical submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings.
  • Monitors scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advises the project team of potential delay.
  • Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED minimum; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related Construction related degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience on construction contract administration and inspection projects on large complex multimillion dollar federal projects, Department of Defense (DoD) or USACE preferred
  • Experience with vertical construction projects. Hospital construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with relevant construction / building codes is needed.
  • The following specialized skills or codes which may be required:
    • Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
    • National National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
    • Plumbing (IPC)
    • Fire Protection Systems (NFPA 13 & 72)
    • HVAC/TAB (ASHRAE/AABC/NEBB)
    • Building Commissioning
    • Communications & Security (IT, Nurse Call/Code Blue, Imaging & IDS/PACS)
    • Transport/Equipment (Patient Lifts, Elevators, Transport Systems, Pneumatic Tube, Food Service, Sterilizers, Mortuary, & Laboratory)
    • Welding Inspection
    • Painting and Metalizing Inspection
    • Environmental HAZWOPER, site sampling
  • Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
  • Experience with three-phase inspection process
  • Experience with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, preferred
