Job summary

Accura Engineering & Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction (QA) Inspector to join our Louisville, KY team.

You will deliver surveillance reports on construction phases, ensure compliance with plans, codes, and design instructions, and support a DoD/USACE project with rigorous quality control. You will review contractor submittals, monitor safety, environmental programs, and schedule progress, while coordinating with the project team to identify issues and propose modifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s in construction-related field preferred.
• 10+ years of construction contract administration and inspection on large DoD/USACE projects.
• Experience with vertical construction projects; hospital construction preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards.
• Experience with RMS 3.0, three-phase inspection, and OSHA EM 385-1-1.

Responsibilities

• Delivers surveillance reports on all phases of construction for compliance with plans and specifications to government personnel.
• Provides technical expertise to client to ensure project compliance with engineering standards, codes, specs and design instructions.
• Performs inspections and completes daily site reports with comments on progress, safety, and subcontractor manpower.
• Observes construction phases for compliance with schedules and shop drawings; identifies problems and recommends changes.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
• Reviews contractor plans and submittals for approval actions including schedules and safety/quality programs.
• Monitors progress and advises project team of potential delay.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Delivers surveillance reports on all phases of construction for compliance with plans and specifications in respect to workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods to government personnel.
• Provides technical expertise to client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
• Performs inspections and completes daily site reports. Include comments and monitoring of progress, work activities, safety issues and subcontractor manpower in the reports.
• Observes and investigates construction phases for compliance with schedules, specifications, and shop drawings. Identifies problems, recommends changes, and assesses the need for contract modifications.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
• Reviews and analyzes contractor plans and technical submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings.
• Monitors scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advises the project team of potential delay.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED minimum; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related Construction related degree, preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience on construction contract administration and inspection projects on large complex multimillion dollar federal projects, Department of Defense (DoD) or USACEpreferred
• Experience with vertical construction projects. Hospital construction experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with relevant construction / building codes is needed.
• The following specialized skills or codes which may be required:
  • Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
  • National National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
  • Plumbing (IPC)
  • Fire Protection Systems (NFPA 13 & 72)
  • HVAC/TAB (ASHRAE/AABC/NEBB)
  • Building Commissioning
  • Communications & Security (IT, Nurse Call/Code Blue, Imaging & IDS/PACS)
  • Transport/Equipment (Patient Lifts, Elevators, Transport Systems, Pneumatic Tube, Food Service, Sterilizers, Mortuary, & Laboratory)
  • Welding Inspection
  • Painting and Metalizing Inspection
  • Environmental HAZWOPER, site sampling
• Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
• Experience with three-phase inspection process
• Experience with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, preferred
