Job summary

Accura Engineering & Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction QA Inspector to lead site inspections in Louisville, KY. The role requires deep experience with federal construction contracts, safety standards, and detailed reporting on workmanship and compliance.

You will review plans, supervise contract changes, and coordinate with government personnel to ensure project alignment with specifications and schedules. Strong detail orientation and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on construction contract administration and inspection on large federal projects.
  • Experience with vertical construction projects; hospital construction is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DoD/USACE processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers surveillance reports on construction for compliance with plans and specs.
  • Provides technical expertise to ensure engineering standards and codes are met.
  • Performs inspections and daily site reports including safety and manpower.
  • Observes phases for schedule compliance; identifies problems and suggests changes.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Assists in contract modification processes.
  • Reviews contractor plans and submittals for approval actions.
  • Monitors progress and advises on potential delays.

REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Delivers surveillance reports on all phases of construction for compliance with plans and specifications in respect to workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods to government personnel.
  • Provides technical expertise to client to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
  • Performs inspections and completes daily site reports. Include comments and monitoring of progress, work activities, safety issues and subcontractor manpower in the reports.
  • Observes and investigates construction phases for compliance with schedules, specifications, and shop drawings. Identifies problems, recommends changes, and assesses the need for contract modifications.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Assists in all phases of the contract modification process.
  • Reviews and analyzes contractor plans and technical submittals for approval action, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings.
  • Monitors scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advises the project team of potential delay.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED minimum; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related Construction related degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience on construction contract administration and inspection projects on large complex multimillion dollar federal projects, Department of Defense (DoD) or USACEpreferred
  • Experience with vertical construction projects. Hospital construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with relevant construction / building codes is needed.
  • The following specialized skills or codes which may be required:
    • Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
    • National National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
    • Plumbing (IPC)
    • Fire Protection Systems (NFPA 13 & 72)
    • HVAC/TAB (ASHRAE/AABC/NEBB)
    • Building Commissioning
    • Communications & Security (IT, Nurse Call/Code Blue, Imaging & IDS/PACS)
    • Transport/Equipment (Patient Lifts, Elevators, Transport Systems, Pneumatic Tube, Food Service, Sterilizers, Mortuary, & Laboratory)
    • Welding Inspection
    • Painting and Metalizing Inspection
    • Environmental HAZWOPER, site sampling
  • Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
  • Experience with three-phase inspection process
  • Experience with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, preferred
