Job summary

Empire Communities is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the team responsible for timely and accurate generation of contract purchase orders across our construction sites. The role emphasizes identifying and implementing process improvements to ensure on-time delivery of materials, trades, and services within schedules and budgets.

Candidates should have a post-secondary degree in architecture or supply chain, strong Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems such as Newstar; BuildPro/OLS

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or college diploma in Architecture, Supply Chain or relevant field.
• Excellent knowledge of construction, procurement and estimating processes.
• Understands Newstar purchasing functions and ERP framework impacts.
• Estimating experience is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with BuildPro or OLS.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction releases with interior design appointments for timely PO issuance.
• Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, procedures and policies within purchasing.
• Collaborate to develop and maintain the Product Library and set up new Decor offerings.
• Review scopes of work, architectural plans and pricing to confirm accurate purchase orders through Newstar.
• Liaise with trade partners, Construction, Marketing, Customer Service and Décor to ensure information for contractual obligations.
• Communicate proactively with Superintendents and Managers on upcoming purchasing needs.
• Work with team, Accounts Payable and Vendors to resolve escalated invoice discrepancies.
• Hire, develop, evaluate and motivate purchasing team.
