Job summary

Empire Homes is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead divisional purchasing, manage trade partners, and oversee contracts for residential projects in the Austin, TX area.

The role requires 5–10 years in purchasing within homebuilding, a related bachelor’s degree, and experience with NewStar Enterprise ERP. Strong negotiation, budgeting, and leadership skills are essential for driving profitability and project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 5-10 years of purchasing experience within residential homebuilding; management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with NewStar Enterprise ERP is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating trade partner and supplier agreements, managing budgets and cost controls.
• Strong understanding of homebuilding operations and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead all divisional purchasing activities: sourcing, bidding, negotiating, and contracting labor, materials, and services.
• Manage trade partner and supplier relationships: recruitment, qualification, performance evaluation, ongoing development.
• Negotiate and maintain contracts, scopes of work, and pricing agreements to ensure cost competitiveness and quality.
• Monitor construction costs, budgets, and market conditions to identify risks and drive profitability.
• Partner with Construction, Operations, Sales, and Finance to support production schedules and strategic initiatives.
• Ensure contract compliance and maintain purchasing data and documentation.
• Lead and develop the divisional purchasing team and promote continuous improvement.
