Job summary

DRB Homes in Myrtle Beach seeks a Construction Estimator to develop and maintain cost effective new home construction estimates and supporting budgets. You will select and employ quality contactors aligned with department and budget objectives.

The role involves reviewing contracts, preparing bid packages, take-offs, field visits and coordinating with Purchasing to manage trade partners and contract files. A strong knowledge of Newstar is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
• 2-4 years residential homebuilding or estimating experience.
• Knowledge of Newstar purchasing software is a plus.
• Detail oriented and organized; ability to multi-task and set priorities.
• Knowledge of the residential homebuilding process is required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Reviews new home sales contracts and creates construction estimates.
• Maintains construction budgets and ensures compliance.
• Prepares bid packages and submits to current and prospective trade partners.
• Prepares take-offs for materials needed (lumber, trim, roofing, siding, etc.).
• Conducts field visits to verify materials ordered are not wasted.
• Assists Purchasing Manager with new community setup in Newstar.
• Processes variance purchase orders.
• Works with Purchasing Manager and Community Builders to maintain scopes of work.
• Manages trade partners and their contract files; ensures pricing and scope compliance.
• Enters trade contract data into Newstar.
• Other duties as apparent or assigned.
