Job summary

Department of Children and Families seeks a Construction Projects Consultant II in Tallahassee to lead and supervise a team, manage multiple capital projects, and ensure compliance with codes and contract requirements.

The role covers procurement, design oversight, and contract administration, with statewide travel. Bachelor's or Master's in a related field plus experience are required. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits under the Florida state system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, construction, mechanical, or architectural engineering, architecture, construction management, or closely related field and two years of qualifying experience; or Master's degree with one year of qualifying experience; or relevant professional experience may substitute for education.
• Ability to travel statewide, including overnight travel.
• Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage Fixed Capital Outlay (FCO) Projects: plan, procure, oversee design, construction, renovation, and repair projects from initiation through completion.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Construct & contract administration: develop solicitations, manage procurements, evaluate bids, review docs, and administer contracts.
• Facilities planning & program oversight: provide statewide guidance on facilities planning and capital improvement projects.
• Real property & asset management: oversee leases, easements, and property transactions with state agencies.
• Privatized facility oversight: monitor privatized facilities and provide improvement recommendations.
• Other duties: support departmental mission.
