Job summary

Insight Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Project Superintendent to lead the day-to-day field operations of commercial construction projects throughout New Mexico. The Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, monitor quality and safety, and ensure projects meet plans, specs, and company standards.

The role requires a strong field leader who takes ownership, communicates effectively, and delivers high-quality work from groundbreaking through closeout.

Qualifications

  • 4-7+ years of commercial construction experience in a superintendent or field leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, scheduling and jobsite operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, submittals, shop drawings, and other project documents.
  • Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades on active projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office.

Job Summary

Insight Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Project Superintendent to lead the day-to-day field operations of commercial construction projects throughout New Mexico.

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, monitoring quality and safety, resolving field challenges, and ensuring projects are completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards.

We're looking for a strong field leader who takes ownership of their projects, communicates effectively, stays ahead of potential issues, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work from groundbreaking through project closeout.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day field operations for assigned commercial construction projects from start to finish.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute rolling three-week project schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, inspections, equipment, and material deliveries to maintain project progress.
  • Review project plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to maintain project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and overall project performance.
  • Lead subcontractors and field personnel while promoting accountability, communication, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Conduct regular jobsite and coordination meetings to review progress, upcoming work, potential conflicts, and safety expectations.
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues before they impact the project schedule.
  • Coordinate required inspections, utility connections, municipal requirements, and other project-related field activities.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, weather, project progress, deliveries, site conditions, safety observations, and other relevant project information.
  • Perform regular quality inspections and verify that completed work complies with project plans, specifications, approved submittals, and company standards.
  • Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective action with subcontractors and project teams.
  • Review subcontractor work and assist with verification of progress billings and change order work when required.
  • Monitor project performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, minimize delays, and control costs.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and productive jobsite.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and proper PPE practices.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and address unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support project closeout, punch list completion, inspections, and turnover requirements.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers and company leadership regarding project progress, challenges, schedule impacts, and significant field issues.
Qualifications
  • 4-7+ years of commercial construction experience, including experience in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar field leadership role; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field with relevant commercial construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and jobsite operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades on active commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and other project documents.
  • Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective leadership and ability to hold subcontractors and field personnel accountable while maintaining professional working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and make sound field decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Experience with construction management software; Procore experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project locations throughout New Mexico as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through closeout.
  • Experience with ground-up commercial construction and tenant improvement projects.
  • Experience working with both public and private commercial clients.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular activity in active commercial construction environments, including:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods throughout active jobsites.
  • Regularly navigating uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and other construction environments.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as required to inspect work.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of an active construction site to perform inspections and oversee project activities.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and sun.
  • Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, noise, equipment, and active construction operations.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Ability to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, or weekends when required by project schedules, critical activities, or project conditions.
