Tidewater Utility Construction, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for our Suffolk, VA site.

The role focuses on managing heavy civil and underground utility construction projects, ensuring adherence to plans and schedules while coordinating with authorities and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience with excavation, pipe installation and trench safety, and a keen commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a commercial construction Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager / Project Superintendent.
• Strong communications skills.
• Heavy civil/underground utility construction experience.
• Knowledge of underground utility construction materials and methods.
• Ability to meet deadlines while delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment with a driven mindset.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a range of projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and high quality across all phases per plans and specs.
• Review plans, generate takeoffs, and coordinate with local authorities.
• Manage resource allocation and scheduling.
• Demonstrate understanding of underground utility construction techniques including excavation and trench safety.
• Collaborate with VDOT and utility departments for alignment and compliance.
• Lead and supervise project teams, including field crews and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Miss Utility or local utility departments for utility locations before construction.
• Manage budgets, including change orders and progress billing.
• Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and potential change orders.
• Identify and resolve field issues.
• Multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ensure safe operations and adherence to safety protocols.
