Job summary

The Loader Operator position is based in Suffolk, VA with Tidewater Utility Construction, Inc. You will operate front-end loaders on various construction projects, performing safety checks and material handling to support crews.

We expect proven loader operation experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work well in a team or independently. Monday–Friday with 40 hours per week and overtime opportunities depending on weather and project needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in front-end loader operation for heavy underground utility installation.
• Pipelayer experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with construction site practices and procedures is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks, including lubrication and cleaning, to ensure the equipment's proper functioning.
• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Load or move material with front-end loader following verbal cues or hand signals.
• Maintain laydown yard and transport material to assist crew as needed.
• Load, unload, organize, and stage pipe fittings and materials.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations on the construction site.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
