Construction Project Manager – United States

This role is designed for an experienced construction professional who will oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of campus construction projects. The Construction Project Manager will coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires expertise in project planning, risk management, contract negotiation, and compliance with regulations. The role offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to lead diverse projects, mentor teams, and contribute to organizational growth and campus development initiatives.
Accountabilities
- Develop and manage cost estimates, schedules, and procurement plans for campus construction projects, factoring in materials, labor, and logistics
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, enforce quality control, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate and communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to review plans and align project scopes
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure cost efficiency and project quality
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines and budgets
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including punch lists, final inspections, and handover records
- Facilitate project closeout procedures and ensure smooth transitions for completed projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- 5-10 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in higher education, healthcare, or commercial real estate
- Proven ability to manage relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, and specialty consultants
- Strong project planning, budgeting, and scheduling skills; proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent PM software
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to interface effectively with senior leadership, facilities teams, and academic staff
- Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget
- Experience with tenant improvements, ground‑up construction, or renovations in educational or healthcare settings is a plus
