Job summary

Responsibilities

Procon is seeking an experienced Onsite Construction Project Manager to support the construction of a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Indiana.

This is a full-time, onsite position supporting the Architect-Engineer (A/E) team throughout construction. The Construction Project Manager will provide field oversight and construction administration while serving as a key interface between the A/E team, contractors, commissioning personnel, and other project stakeholders.

The successful candidate will help ensure construction activities conform to approved design documents, technical requirements, quality standards, applicable codes, and project requirements. The role requires strong field experience within manufacturing environments, with pharmaceutical, life sciences, laboratory, or other highly regulated facility experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, architecture, engineering, and/or construction, with demonstrated experience supporting projects of similar size, scope, and complexity.
  • Manufacturing construction experience required; pharmaceutical manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories, process areas, utilities, cleanrooms, or controlled environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, safety requirements, and construction documentation.
  • Experience reviewing and managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, pay applications, testing and inspection records, and project logs.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems, process utilities, clean utilities, HVAC, piping, electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and associated facility infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, system turnover, punch lists, and closeout activities.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating and scheduling principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve construction, design, quality, schedule, cost, and system-interface issues.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, commissioning teams, and other project stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, technical judgment, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Lebanon, Indiana.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as an onsite Construction Project Manager and A/E Representative, providing daily oversight of construction activities.
  • Perform onsite field observations and inspections of pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratory, process, utility, and controlled-environment construction.
  • Evaluate construction activities for conformance with approved drawings, specifications, submittals, applicable codes, quality standards, safety requirements, and project requirements.
  • Inspect installation of cleanrooms, process areas, HVAC systems, piping, electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and critical utility infrastructure.
  • Monitor installation of process and clean utility systems, including piping, equipment connections, supports, valves, instrumentation, and associated components.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and track deficiencies, non-conforming work, design deviations, and field conditions requiring correction or A/E review.
  • Support field verification and resolution of RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, proposed construction changes, and field issues.
  • Observe construction activities affecting cleanroom classifications, pressure relationships, environmental controls, and other critical facility performance requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors, A/E disciplines, commissioning personnel, and project stakeholders to resolve construction and system-interface issues.
  • Manage and maintain RFIs, submittals, schedules, change orders, pay applications, testing and inspection records, project logs, and other construction documentation.
  • Review contractor schedules, progress updates, change proposals, and payment applications for accuracy and alignment with observed field conditions.
  • Lead and participate in project and coordination meetings, prepare meeting minutes, track action items, and follow issues through resolution.
  • Monitor contractor quality control and safety programs and proactively identify potential schedule, cost, quality, safety, and field risks.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, installation verification, punch list development, commissioning, qualification, and turnover activities.
  • Prepare detailed daily field reports, photographic documentation, deficiency logs, risk assessments, technical briefings, Statements of Work (SOWs), and other professional project deliverables.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate field documentation to provide traceability and support the documentation requirements associated with a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Support acquisition, procurement, contract administration, project startup, and closeout activities.
  • Assist with final documentation, including warranties, as-built drawings, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and turnover packages.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
  • Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
  • Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
  • Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction-site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
