Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field required.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible construction project management experience on large public-sector projects.
  • Experience managing projects with values exceeding $20 million.
  • Experience with convention centers, state or municipal buildings, government facilities, or similarly complex projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of public-sector procurement processes, construction contracting, and project reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of CM-at-Risk, Design-Bid-Build, and Design-Build delivery methods.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specs, schedules, cost controls, and change management.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and state/federal requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout phases of major construction projects.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, cost, quality, and overall performance to meet objectives.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project team members.
  • Develop, review, and monitor budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, schedules, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor progress and provide clear status reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Review drawings, specs, documents, and submittals for constructability and contract compliance.
  • Ensure activities comply with codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Administer contracts and support change orders, claims, and RFIs.
  • Facilitate coordination among design teams, contractors, and agencies.
  • Support QA/QC efforts and oversee closeout activities.

Procon is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support the successful delivery of large, complex public-sector construction projects. This position will provide comprehensive project management oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through procurement, construction, and closeout.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong background managing large-scale public-sector projects valued at $20 million or more, including convention centers, municipal or state facilities, government buildings, or comparable complex facilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead and support the planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout phases of major construction projects.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, cost, quality, and overall performance to ensure established project objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate and oversee architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project team members.
  • Develop, review, and monitor project budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, schedules, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor construction progress and provide clear and timely project status reports to clients and key stakeholders.
  • Review design drawings, specifications, construction documents, and contractor submittals for constructability, coordination, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, contract requirements, and state and federal regulations.
  • Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation and resolution strategies.
  • Administer construction contracts and support the review and resolution of change orders, claims, requests for information, and other contractual matters.
  • Facilitate coordination among design teams, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout design and construction.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including punch lists, final documentation, contract requirements, and turnover.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
  • Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
  • Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
  • Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction-site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
