About the Role

A major player in the mining industry is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to oversee the development and construction of essential support facilities near Welkom, Free State . This critical role involves managing all phases of construction projects, from initial planning and design through to completion and handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position requires extensive experience in managing complex construction projects, particularly those related to industrial or mining infrastructure. You will be a key leader, coordinating diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve operational excellence for our client's expanding mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Take full responsibility for the planning, execution, and successful completion of construction projects for mining support facilities. Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation. Manage and coordinate all on-site activities, including subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel. Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to the mining and construction industries. Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets, implementing corrective actions as needed. Oversee quality control and assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications. Manage stakeholder relationships, including mining operations management, engineers, consultants, and regulatory bodies. Procure necessary materials, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery. Identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies. Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management. Facilitate effective communication among all project team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional registration (e.g., PrCM, PrEng) is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 12 years of comprehensive project management experience in the construction sector.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale industrial or mining-related construction projects is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), and contract administration.
• Proven ability to manage budgets exceeding R50 million.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
