Job summary

Carlson Construction in Joliet, IL seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale construction projects and nurture long‑term client and partner relationships. You will own budgeting, scheduling, estimating, and project control while guiding cross‑functional teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in project management, a degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management (preferred), and excellent communication, leadership, and writing skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in project management or construction management.
• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred but not required.
• Experience with construction or project management software
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints
• Excellent communication, leadership and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Manage budgeting, estimating, and related activities for large-scale construction projects.

• Select subcontractors, delegate work, and negotiate agreements.
• Provide leadership for estimating, bidding and pre-construction phases.

Position Summary

Carlson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Joliet, IL. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader who excels at building strong, lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams.

Responsibilities

As Project Manager, you will:

• Manage budgeting, estimating, and related activities for large-scale construction projects
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and construction personnel
• Select subcontractors, delegate work, and negotiate subcontract agreements
• Provide leadership for estimating, bidding, and pre-construction phases of each project
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, engineers, public officials, trade partners, field superintendents, and construction personnel
• Support the project team, including project managers, contract administration, field superintendents, and accounting
• Resolve issues and proactively address delays, emergencies, and other challenges as they arise
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and all applicable legal requirements
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress
• Communicate contract and technical matters clearly to clients and stakeholders
• Apply strong time-management skills to accurately estimate work effort and scheduling needs across projects

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred, but not required
• Experience with construction or project management software preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints
• Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
• Strong writing skills for proposals and reports
