Job summary

MPI seeks an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to oversee ground-up and interior fit-out projects in the Hartford, CT market. You will manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client relationships from preconstruction through closeout.

The role requires a track record in commercial construction, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager within commercial construction.
  • Experience overseeing projects valued between $5M and $50M+.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
  • Experience with healthcare, education, corporate interiors, retail, or institutional projects is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage subcontractors and client relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasting reports.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and company leadership.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and submittals to ensure project compliance.
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Manage procurement activities and long-lead material tracking.
  • Oversee change order management and negotiate cost impacts with subcontractors and clients.
  • Ensure jobsite safety standards and quality control procedures are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve project challenges proactively and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion, final documentation, and turnover.
