Job summary

Palmer Group is seeking a Construction Project Manager in West Des Moines to lead commercial construction projects from initiation through closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, safety compliance, and coordination with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure quality outcomes.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, at least four years of commercial construction experience (healthcare a plus), and certifications such as PMP or LEED.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in commercial construction, healthcare project experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Certifications such as PMP, OSHA, or LEED accreditation.
  • Experience with design-build projects.
  • Knowledge of current building codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all phases of commercial construction projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed project schedules, tracking progress and adjusting plans as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare comprehensive project budgets, monitor expenses, and manage profit projections to ensure the financial health of each project.
  • Coordinate and review bid documents, solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals, and negotiate subcontractor agreements to secure competitive pricing and high-quality work.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction activities, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to discuss progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Oversee design development activities, collaborating with architects, engineers, and design teams to ensure plans align with project specifications and client expectations.
  • Manage and track project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
