Job summary

Scott Humphrey is seeking a Project Manager to lead ground-up commercial construction projects in the DFW market. You will oversee budgets, schedules, client communication, and subcontractor management from preconstruction through closeout within a collaborative leadership team.

This hands-on construction leadership role emphasizes delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget, with opportunities to grow into broader leadership responsibilities.

  • Drive project schedules and ensure milestones are met; manage RFIs and submittals.
  • Oversee field operations, quality, safety, and closeout activities.

As the Project Manager, you will serve as the driving force behind project execution, overseeing budgets, schedules, client communication, subcontractor management, and project documentation while partnering closely with field operations to ensure successful project delivery.

This position is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

What You'll Be Doing
Preconstruction & Project Planning
  • Lead project startup and turnover from estimating to operations.
  • Review subcontractor scopes, identify potential gaps, and mitigate risks before construction begins.
  • Manage permitting efforts and coordinate approvals with local municipalities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules while tracking procurement and long-lead materials.
  • Execute subcontract agreements and oversee submittal workflows.
Project Execution & Client Management
  • Lead weekly owner, architect, tenant, and subcontractor meetings.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Drive project schedules and hold trade partners accountable to milestones.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to ensure seamless project execution.
Field Leadership
  • Conduct regular site visits and support field operations as needed.
  • Monitor jobsite progress, quality, logistics, and coordination efforts.
  • Assist with inspections, turnover activities, and Certificate of Occupancy requirements.
  • Verify structural, MEP, and finish installations are aligned with project plans.
Quality, Safety & Closeout
  • Champion quality control throughout all phases of construction.
  • Lead punch list and closeout efforts to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure projects are fully completed, documented, and turnover-ready.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
  • 6+ years of Project Management experience with a Commercial General Contractor.
  • Experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects from start to finish.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Experience with tenant improvements, renovations, and interior finish-outs is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors, consultants, and client relationships.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud, MS Project, Sage, Procore, or similar construction management platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of project controls, cost management, scheduling, and documentation.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Natural leader focused on team development and project success.
  • Strong communicator with excellent client-facing skills.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive under pressure.
