Job description

Casella Construction is seeking to hire a Construction Project Manager to join our Construction Engineering Team in Mendon, Vermont. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the pre-proposal phase, pre-bid conferences, and initial bid packages. The Construction Project Manager will support the Senior Project Managers & Superintendents review. During construction, you are the technical expert managing quality control, buyout, updating as-builts, and revising layouts as needed. In this role you must have great interpersonal skills and keen attention to detail in all you do.

Responsibilities:

• Be a steward of safety, be an active member in the project team to ensure that work (self-performed and subcontracted) is executed in the safest manner possible in adherence with company and OSHA policies.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to the company safety policy, promoting job site safety, encouraging safe work practices, and rectifying job site hazards immediately.
• Attend Pre-Bid Conferences.
• Compile Job Bid Packages for review by Superintendent & Senior Project Manager.
• Complete takeoffs in support of project execution.
• File for municipal/state/federal permits as needed.
• Develop & implement traffic control plans.
• Solicit & manage quotes from subcontracts and create and execute subcontracts.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure materials are delivered onsite in a timely manner supporting project schedule.
• Oversee & update site plans and logistics.
• Manage & maintain survey equipment for the company.
• Process and submit as-builts & O&Ms.
• Resource planning & allocation.
• Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance.
• Manage internal & external stakeholders.
• Monitor weekly costing and communicate with field staff to identify and correct potential cost issues.
• Monitor and report project details to the Senior Project Managers, including progress, risks, and opportunities in a timely manner.
• Support supervising all the needed documents throughout the project life cycle until project closeout.
• Support the Senior Project Managers in the Management of contract change orders.
• Manage projects during warranty period.
• Subcontract and vendor invoice review, coding, and approval.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years’ experience in a technical or Project Management role in a Civil Construction Company specializing in highway construction, site development, and utilities preferred.
• 4-year Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree desired.
• Thorough knowledge of construction and trade activities, tools, equipment operation and skills of various trade types.
• Valid Driver License.
• OSHA 10-hour Certificate.
• Well-developed Leadership & interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand, kneel, walk, and stop for extended periods of time.
• Able to work outside in all weather.

Desired Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering License, PE.
• OSHA 30-hour Certificate.
