Job summary

MBC Talent Connections seeks an experienced Construction Project Manager in Lexington, KY to lead all aspects of project delivery for a design-build firm. You will coordinate between clients, internal teams, and contractors to ensure projects are on time, within budget, and of high quality.

You will oversee multi-phase construction, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards while building strong client relationships on complex projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or business.
  • 5–10 years of project management experience.
  • 10+ years in the construction industry.
  • Excellent project and budget management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple concurrent projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring alignment with client goals and company standards.
  • Client Coordination: Consult with clients on project requirements, spatial needs, design specifications, materials, timelines, and budgets.
  • Design & Documentation: Oversee development of drawings, specifications, and design review documents with internal design team.
  • Financial Management: Manage project budgets, coordinate billing with clients, track payments from owners, and oversee contractor finances.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Obtain state/local permits; ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations.
  • Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project schedules across design, engineering, bidding, buyout, construction, closeout.
  • Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular progress meetings with clients and superintendents; address safety concerns.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle challenges from weather, design changes, or owner requests to minimize delays.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear communication with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and internal teams.

Location: Lexington, KY
Salary Range: $115,000 – $130,000

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead all aspects of project delivery for our design-build construction firm. In this role, you will serve as the primary coordinator between clients, internal teams, and external contractors, ensuring every project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to build long-term client relationships while managing complex, multi-phase construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple concurrent projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring alignment with client goals and company standards
  • Client Coordination: Consult with clients on project requirements, spatial needs, design specifications, materials, timelines, and budgets
  • Design & Documentation: Oversee the development of drawings, specifications, and design review documents in collaboration with the internal design team
  • Financial Management: Manage project budgets, coordinate billing with clients, track payments from owners, and oversee contractor finances
  • Permitting & Compliance: Obtain all required state and local permits and licenses; ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations
  • Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project schedules that account for design, engineering, bidding, buyout, construction, and closeout phases
  • Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular progress meetings with clients and superintendents to track productivity, address safety concerns, and maintain project momentum
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively address challenges arising from weather, design changes, or owner requests to minimize project delays
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and internal teams throughout project lifecycle
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or business
  • 5–10 years of project management experience
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry
  • Excellent project and budget management capabilities
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Superior attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet client-initiated deadlines consistently
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and design requirements
  • Valid work authorization in the United States
  • Willingness to submit to drug screening and background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of project management experience
  • Pre-construction experience
  • Expertise in project scheduling and planning
