Elsdon Group is seeking a hands-on Project Manager to oversee education and healthcare projects in Midland, TX, with regular coordination from the Houston office. The role sits between a traditional PM and Sr.

PM, owning the project, client relationships and commercial aspects while digging into the day‑to‑day details. You will manage communications with clients and subcontractors, review shop drawings and submittals, drive procurement and subcontractor buyouts, and keep the schedule up to date

Schedule: Monday & Friday - Houston | Tuesday-Thursday - Midland

Projects: Education & Healthcare, up to approximately $40M

We’re working with an established General Contractor looking for a hands‑on Project Manager to join their team and oversee projects in Midland, TX.

This is a role sitting somewhere between a traditional PM and Sr. PM. They’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the project, client and commercial side, but is also comfortable getting into the weeds and driving the day‑to‑day details.

The work will primarily be education and healthcare projects, with project values up to around $40M.

Responsibilities

• Manage clear and transparent communication with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Coordinate multiple scopes and review/vet shop drawings, submittals and trade packages for accuracy.
• Manage coordination around building envelope, roofing assemblies, BIM, mock‑ups and other specialist scopes.
• Assist with the RFI process and work with the design team to drive resolutions.
• Lead project procurement efforts and assist with subcontractor buyout.
• Manage newly added scope and ensure changes are properly bought out and documented.
• Review and price drawing changes quickly and accurately, making sure the project captures the money it is entitled to.
• Work with the project team to update the construction schedule weekly using P6.
• Organize and run OAC meetings, Construction Committee meetings and provide regular Executive Committee updates.
• Maintain a strong QA/QC mindset across all project activities.
• Coordinate site logistics and major scopes to keep the project moving efficiently.
• Take a proactive approach to conflict resolution and project coordination.
• Work closely with the design team throughout the project to identify and resolve issues before they impact schedule or cost.

Looking for

• Strong commercial construction background with experience running projects from start through completion.
• Experience with education, healthcare or similarly complex commercial projects.
• Comfortable managing projects up to $40M+.
• Strong understanding of procurement, buyout, RFIs, submittals, change orders and scheduling.
• Experience with P6 and Procore.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Someone who is proactive, detail-oriented and willing to get into the weeds rather than simply delegate.
• Ability and willingness to work in Midland Tuesday-Thursday, with Monday and Friday based in the Houston office.

This would suit someone who is currently a Project Manager and ready to take on more responsibility, or a Sr. PM who still enjoys being heavily involved in the detail and execution of their projects.
