Overview
Senior Project Manager – K–12 Projects, Michigan (Plante Moran Realpoint, affiliate of Plante &Moran, PLLC). Lead multiple K‑12 construction and program management projects, building strong client relationships, and ensuring adherence to legal, financial, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage project logistics, including vendor contracting strategy and internal team responsibilities.
- Lead multiple projects of varying scope and scale concurrently.
- Analyze legal and financing impacts on project structure.
- Identify and resolve project risk factors (e.g., AHJ requirements, design/engineering management, construction methods).
- Manage multiple vendors, enforce contractual obligations, and prioritize activities.
- Procure construction and supplemental services, coordinating and monitoring vendor compliance.
- Facilitate client engagement and decision‑making processes within the program.
- Monitor budget, schedule, and risk items; lead issue resolution.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with P&M and PMR policies and procedures, including internal reporting.
- Mentor and coach team members, contributing to performance development.
Qualifications
- Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management degree from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of experience in project management, construction administration, or field management, with preference for owner’s facility team or consulting experience.
- Experience with K‑12 construction and knowledge of construction best practices.
- Understanding of the design process that shapes scope and budget development.
- Construction cost estimating experience is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and/or Primavera; familiarity with BIM is a plus.
- Must reside in or near Grand Rapids, MI, or be willing to relocate; frequent travel throughout the region (~15% overnight).
- Exempt position with potential for overtime beyond a standard 40‑hour work week.
