Job summary

The Superior Group is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead electrical construction projects on site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will manage schedules, budgets, and coordination with superintendents and foremen to drive project progress and completion.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in project operations in commercial construction and may hold a Construction Systems Management degree or related cert.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of project operations/PM experience in commercial construction.
• Bachelor’s in Construction Systems Management or related field is preferred.
• Experience with design-build, hard bid, and negotiated projects around $5M–$50M is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of construction management software is desirable.
• Active OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Mitigate and manage project risk and communicate issues quickly to leadership.
• Create and manage the full project schedule from kickoff to closeout.
• Manage project finances including billings, cost control, and change orders.
• Build client trust through proactive communication and collaboration.
• Chair project meetings and coordinate with customers and field teams.
• Ensure material availability and cross-department coordination on projects.
• Provide leadership and clear guidance to all team members.
• Understand and negotiate changes within the project contract.
• Review estimates, drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Oversee timely job closeout procedures and safety on site.

Description

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Pay Range: $95,000 - $150,000

Superior and our tri-venture, CST is looking for a Project Manager to help drive our electrical construction projects forward. The Project Manager is responsible for managing construction projects, scheduling resources, ensuring that budgets and timelines are met, and working closely with the Superintendent and Foremen to ensure the successful progress and completion of the project. This role is based on a jobsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and will be a member of Superior's Project Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

• Mitigate and manage project risk, and elevate concerns – and solutions – quickly to Project Operations and Field Operations leadership
• Create and manage the full project schedule from project kickoff to project closeout
• Manage all project finance requirements, including billings, project setup, project buy-out, project cost control, change order management, and cost to complete
• Earn the trust of clients by cultivating relationships, communicating swiftly, collaborating, and solving challenges
• Chair project meetings including planning, progress updates, and reviews with customers
• Work with departments across the organization to ensure that project materials are available and in place as needed
• Serve as a key leader and provide clear communication and guidance to all team members
• Understand the full scope of the project contract and negotiate changes as needed
• Review all project documents including estimates, design drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Ensure the timely completion of all job closeout procedures
• Maintain a high degree of safety on our work across the jobsite

Your Expertise

• Required: You have at least 4 years of project operations/project management experience in commercial construction, or equivalent field operations management experience
• Bonus Points: You have earned a bachelor’s degree in Construction Systems Management, Engineering, or a related field; a Construction Management certificate; or have equivalent field or project experience on a commercial construction site
• Bonus Points: You have experience with design-build, hard bid, and negotiated projects around $5M to $50M
• Bonus Points: You have extensive knowledge in construction management software
• Bonus Points: You hold an active OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
