MDC Executive Search represents a family-owned builder leading a 39-unit affordable apartment community in Fontana, CA. The role splits time between the Fontana jobsite and Newport Beach corporate office, offering real ownership and a voice on critical decisions.

The candidate will manage schedule, budget, quality, and safety, coordinating with subs, vendors, and city agencies to keep momentum and deliver on schedule. Strong communication with leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing affordable multifamily construction (essential).
• Working knowledge of affordable housing funding and compliance requirements (tax credits/public financing).
• Track record delivering projects on time and on budget.
• Strong organizational skills to manage many moving parts.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office.
• Down-to-earth, low-drama approach and ability to earn trust quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead project from preconstruction through closeout, owning schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, keeping everyone aligned and accountable.
• Run bid leveling, buyout, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, inspectors, and city agencies to keep the project moving.
• Report progress and forecasts to executive leadership with clarity and confidence.
• Build strong relationships on site and set a tone of professionalism and respect.

Project Manager, Affordable Multifamily Construction

Hybrid (2 days on site, 3 days at corporate)

$120,000 to $150,000 base, plus bonus, full benefits, and company vehicle

Our client is a privately held, family-run real estate and hospitality group with roots dating back to 1949. Over more than seven decades, they have built homes and apartment communities, developed commercial properties, and grown into a diversified organization with roughly 2,300 apartments, along with ventures in wine, golf, and agriculture. They are not chasing trends. They are building for the long haul, and they are looking for a Project Manager to lead a 39-unit affordable apartment community in Fontana from the ground up.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You'll split your week between the Fontana jobsite and the Newport Beach corporate office, so you stay close to the work and close to leadership. Your decisions will be trusted and your voice will be heard.
