Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to serve as the project’s management representative, ensuring safety, budget, schedule, and quality targets are met while delivering client satisfaction. The ACM will coordinate with the project team and uphold company policies across field operations.

Responsibilities include planning, procurement, scheduling, submittals, change management, cost reporting, and lead-perform in a mobile work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
• Professional accreditations desirable
• 7+ years' experience in construction related field required
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Excellent working knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations and building systems
• Familiarity with strategic planning
• Ability to work collaboratively in mobile work environment
• Software proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite) and report writing applications
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to function as part of a high-performance team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety is integrated into job planning and execution; promote accountability among staff and subcontractors
• Pre-job Planning and Mobilization
• Purchasing Responsibility
• Scheduling
• Customer/Owner Relations - Regular visits with customer and Architect/Engineer to identify problems
• Maintain open communications
• Submittals - ensure timely review and processing
• Expediting of vendors and subcontractors
• Progress payments from Owner and to Subcontractors
• Change Orders and Change Estimates
• Cost Reports - weekly and monthly reviews and analysis
• Analyze cost/schedule problems and identify corrective actions
• Quality Control and Commissioning - ensure QC plans and standards
• Implement Commissioning Manual for proper building function
• Personnel evaluation, development, and retention
• Recruiting salaried personnel
• Stay current with industry practices and technology
• Other duties as assigned by Regional Construction Manager or project team
