Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support Civil West in Tempe, AZ. You will perform quantity takeoffs, monitor subcontracted scopes, review design and scope documents, and assist with project start-up and commissioning processes.

The role requires 4–6 years of construction operations experience, strong communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities, and a drive to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 4–6 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, specs, HSE, quality and building materials.
• Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Planning and time-management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management.
• Maintains contracts with complex subcontracted scopes and administration, defining work scope and monitoring progress.
• Reviews subcontract obligations and assists site manager in project start-up activities.
• Reviews subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope and design documentation.
• Assists with site inspections by the design team and witnesses system commissioning.
• Identifies potential risks on project scopes and coordinates schedule updates.
• Tracks productivity and provides change order pricing assistance.
